The Denver Broncos have signed former Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn to their practice squad, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Vaughn spent the past two season with the Cowboys but was waived as part of the team’s final roster cuts prior to this season.

Vaughn played in 14 games across the past two years in Dallas. He totaled 110 yards rushing on 40 carries as well as 10 catches for 58 yards receiving.

Deuce Vaughn played college football at Kansas State, where he totaled 3,604 yards rushing and 34 touchdowns along with 42 catches for 378 yards and three receiving touchdowns. That led the Cowboys to select him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Now the running back will hope to provide depth on the practice squad and wait for his next opportunity to arise on the Broncos roster. Denver already has five running backs on its active roster so compmetition will be be stiff for Vaughn.

The Broncos are coming off of a 20-12 victory against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. They next have a matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Cowboys place Perrion Winfrey on IR, thinning line after Micah Parsons trade

The Dallas Cowboys will be without a defensive tackle for at least the next few games. On Monday, they placed Perrion Winfrey on injured reserve due to a back issue. Winfrey becomes eligible to be activated on Oct. 12 against the Carolina Panthers. Until then, the goal is to get back to full health.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed the conversation he held with Winfrey over the decision. Apparently, emotions came out of both of them. Per usual, Schottenheimer was highly complimentary of the player’s character, as he attempts to build a brand new culture inside the Cowboys locker room.

“The emotion of it, seeing Perrion react like that, showed me two things: the passion he has for this game and the pain he’s had to go through of having it taken away from him, and not knowing if this would work out or not,” Schottenheimer said via DallasCowboys.com. “I told him, ‘The reason we wanted to do it is because we wanted to see your reaction. We figured you’d react this [way].’ He did not disappoint. He’s a special young man. … who deserves this opportunity, and has earned it.”
