Report: Houston Texans expected to sign RB Nick Chubb pending physical

The Houston Texans are bringing in one of the top offensive players in the NFL for a visit. If all goes well, running back Nick Chubb could soon be suited up in the deep steel blue and battle red.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Chubb will visit and “is expected to sign” should all go well with his physical on Monday. Chubb is coming off a season-ending injury with the Cleveland Browns.
Still, he’s one of the most productive backs in the league when healthy. In seven years in Cleveland, Nick Chubb logged 6,843 yards rushing and 51 touchdowns, as well as 128 catches for 1,042 yards and five scores.
Of course, whether Chubb can get and stay healthy is a major concern at this point. He has played in just 10 games the past two seasons after reaching double-digit appearances in each of the first five years of his career.
Chubb has totaled only 502 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the last two years, though he has added a receiving touchdown in that span. Getting back to his earlier-career productivity will be key.

After rushing for 996 yards and eight touchdowns in his rookie season, Nick Chubb averaged 1,336 yards and 10 touchdowns per year over the next four seasons. That’s incredible production for a running back, among the top of the league.
Nick Chubb feeling healthy again
Running back Nick Chubb is ready to have a major bounce-back season in 2025. Before Super Bowl LIX, On3 caught up with Chubb and asked him about his current health status after battling multiple injuries last season and in 2023.
“I feel good and I’ve definitely been through a lot last two years,” Chubb told On3 in February. “So I’m trying to bounce back. Things happen. I came back, broke my foot. It is what it is. I’m healthy now. New season, I have a full off-season. And I already have… I’m back to my training. So I’m feeling good, looking forward to getting healthy and getting back out there.”
In 2024, Chubb began the year on the physically unable to perform list as he was recovering from a torn MCL and damaged ACL. He returned to action in Week 7 and played in eight games before suffering a broken foot.
