Following the news that the Washington Commanders had snagged Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as the team’s next head coach, wide receiver Jahan Dotson was quick to call for Micah Parsons to join Quinn in D.C. on Thursday. Dotson took to social media to remind Parsons of a statement he made just a few weeks ago about what might happen if the coordinator took a new job.

“Dan is my guy. And if he does leave, it’s always love. He might take me with him, you never know,” Parsons joked as Quinn began taking interviews.

“We welcome you with open arms brotha,” Dotson tweeted with a screengrab of Parsons’ comments. Parsons retweeted Dotson with a photo of him sacking Commanders quarterback Sam Howell – no caption necessary.

Dotson’s recruitment effort won’t work on Parsons despite their previous history. The Cowboys star is almost certainly just a few weeks away from Dallas signing him to a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid players in the league.

Parsons will stay in DFW, but Quinn may take some others with him to D.C. Secondary coach Joe Whitt is reportedly expected to become the head coach’s new defensive coordinator and others may join him.

Micah Parsons had an exceptional 2023 campaign, despite the Cowboys’ first-round playoff loss. He helped the team win the NFC East and racked up 14 sacks in the process, which is a new career high.

Dotson, in his second season, finished the year with 49 catches, 518 yards and four touchdowns. The Commanders took him with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Parsons ends silence following playoff loss

Parsons has not talked much since the playoff loss to Green Bay but broke his silence on Wednesday on his podcast. He was straightforward with his thoughts on the 48-32 loss, calling it “completely embarrassing.”

“It’s sad that you lose the way that you do,” Parsons said. “Especially at home. We talked about how much we played at home… To go out like that at home was completely embarrassing and unacceptable. I couldn’t even look at that loss or feel any type of way because of how embarrassed I felt. Honestly, it took me a while to even show my face in public.”

Parsons and the Cowboys will bounce back from the embarrassment of their playoff loss, as they have in each of the last two seasons. Jerry Jones has already promised that his team will be going “all-in” for the 2024 season.
