New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn gave an injury update on Justin Fields, who is dealing with a concussion. On Thursday, Glenn told reporters that Fields will practice but remains in concussion protocol. Aaron Glenn also said that if Fields is cleared to play this week, he will start against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

Fields suffered a concussion in the Jets’ 30-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. It was not a great performance for the former Ohio State star, as he completed three of 11 passes for 27 yards. Fields also rushed for 49 yards on five carries in he loss.

Fields was ruled out for last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tyrod Taylor was the starting QB and completed 26 of 36 passes for 197 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the 29-27 loss.

Aaron Glenn reveals expectations for Justin Fields this season

On Monday, Glenn told reporters that there won’t be any QB changes. That is despite how Taylor looked this past weekend.

“Justin came in as our starter and he’s been our starter, so listen, Tyrod was the backup,” Glenn said, per the team’s official website. “So, I want to make sure I know exactly where Justin is at. I don’t want to say anything until I know that Justin is cleared. So once Justin is cleared, I will let you know exactly where we’re going.”

Fields signed with the Jets during the offseason after spending the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the season opener, Fields threw for 218 yards, rushed for 48 yards, and scored three total TDs in the Jets’ 34-32 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We’re going to see the things that he likes, and we’re also going to progress with the things he’s not good at, so he can get better in that aspect,” Glenn said after the Week 1 loss. “So, this is still a work in progress. And we’re going to continue to work with him, and I know, just because of the type of person that he is and how he’s always been, he’s going to do everything he can to perfect that. Again, I look forward to seeing him, how he matures through the season.”
