Kyle Larson, Corey Day facing off at Placerville Hangtown 100
This weekend, two of Hendrick Motorsports’ best are going to face off in a USAC battle out in California for the Hangtown 100. Kyle Larson and Corey Day are facing off once again on the dirt in Placerville. The two Californians will be seeking a win to start the NASCAR offseason.
Corey Day is going full-time racing with the Hendrick No. 17 team next season. His starts in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Craftsman Truck Series this year showed he was ready for the next step. He has learned so quickly in his transition from dirt to pavement. In a couple of weeks, he will turn 20, and he’s already racing well beyond his years.
Meanwhile, Kyle Larson is going to do what he does on the dirt. He is the one who put Hendrick on Day a couple of years ago. Now, it looks like Day is the successor to Larson, insofar as they are both from a dirt background.
There are other big names in the Hangtown 100. IndyCar driver Santino Ferrucci is on the entry list. Logan Seavey, Buddy Kofoid, Daison Pursley, Carson Macedo, and more regulars on the dirt are also among those on the entry list. It’s going to be a proper weekend of USAC action at Placerville. And you can catch the action on FloRacing.

“It was fun to go 30 laps non-stop,” Larson said. “That was pretty intense from my seat. Traffic was crazy and I was watching the board and trying to peek back when I could. I felt like I was putting together good laps. You just don’t know for sure when you get stuck like that.”
With Larson, it’s nonstop all the time. From January to December, he’s usually racing at least a few times each month. Coming off his championship he could barely make it two weeks without racing.
Everyone knows that Kyle Larson is full throttle. He just doesn’t stop racing. While others in the Cup Series feel the need to relax and take time off after a grueling 38 week schedule, Larson just keeps going, and going, and going, and…..
