The Baltimore Ravens have made the final decision on Lamar Jackson, who suffered an injury in the Sunday Night Football game against the New England Patriots. The team announced in the third quarter that the superstar quarterback has been ruled out with a back injury.

Jackson exited the game in the second quarter due to an issue with his back. The two-time NFL MVP suffered the injury after a run up the middle, which led to him heading to the locker room before halftime.

Lamar Jackson has struggled with injuries all year. He missed three games earlier this season because of a hamstring injury and has also dealt with issues with his knee, ankle, and toe. This past week, Jackson missed practice due to an illness.

The Ravens are hoping Jackson’s back injury isn’t serious because they will need all the help they can get to clinch a playoff spot. On Thursday, Jackson spoke to reporters about his mindset with three games remaining in the regular season.

Lamar Jackson says Ravens have to ‘lock in’

“I have to worry about the Patriots,” Jackson said. “I can’t think ahead. I have to focus on these guys, because it’s an explosive defense, explosive offense, so we have to lock in.”

Jackson also discussed winning against the Patriots, as it’s the last home game of the year. “I can’t say we really look at it like it’s the last home game. We feel like each and every game, we have to win, so I don’t look at it like [being more important] just because we’re home. No matter where we’re at, [we have to win], but this game is special, because you just said it; it’s the last home game. I didn’t even think about that, so we just have to lock in [and] protect our territory.”

Jackson’s injury has played a role in the Ravens being a position to miss the playoffs. They entered Sunday’s game with a 7-7 record and a game and a half behind the Pittsburgh Steelers for the AFC North lead. The Ravens have made the playoffs six times in the last seven seasons and have won the division four times during that span.
