LeBron James predicts his Super Bowl LX matchup ahead of NFL season

NBA superstar LeBron James is no stranger to the National Football League, as he has always shown love to his hometown Cleveland Browns (and other teams such as the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Rams).
Ahead of the 2025 season, James partnered up with DraftKings Sportsbook to give his picks for the Super Bowl LX matchup. James took the safe route and revealed that he is going with yet another Super Bowl clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I was correct about the Commanders being a sleeper team, but they cannot be a sleeper team after last year,” James said. “So, I’m going Eagles/Chiefs again man. You’ve got the best two teams. You’ve got the best player in the whole NFL in Patrick Mahomes and I think he wants some get back. So I got Eagles/Chiefs. I’ve got no winner right now but I hope it’s a good ass game I’ll tell you that.”
If this matchup were to happen, it would mark the third in the past four seasons between the two franchises. It would also mean that the Kansas City Chiefs would have reached the event six times in the past seven seasons, establishing themselves as one of the top NFL dynasties in league history.
The first Super Bowl matchup between Kansas City and Philadelphia took place in Super Bowl LVII (2023). That matchup was an extremely back-and-forth affair, with the Eagles tying the game at 35 with a Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown with 5:15 remaining in the fourth quarter. Mahomes and his offense however drove the field and put kicker Harrison Butker in position to kick the game-winner with just eight seconds remaining.

The second Super Bowl matchup between the two teams took place in last season’s Super Bowl LIX, but it went in the opposite direction of the first affair. Philadelphia jumped out to a commanding 34-0 lead in the third quarter and never looked back, holding on for the 40-22 win to cement the second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
A rematch between the two franchises has certainly been a popular pick heading into the 2025 season and would settle the rivalry, as it currently sits at one win apiece for both teams.
Philadelphia kicks off the season by hosting the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4. Kansas City opens its season just one night later as it hosts the Los Angeles Chargers in Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 5.
