LeBron James and Brian Windhorst have had their ups and downs over the years. Now, the Lakers star is once again coming after the NBA reporter for comments he made about James’ new Mind of the Game podcast with former NBA star Steve Nash.

Windhorst at one point said people wouldn’t like the podcast because they want the “drama” that comes with the NBA and not simply “X’s and O’s.” But with James and Nash released their first episode together around two months ago, Windhorst has been forced to eat crow.

James made a since-deleted post where he showed that the podcast had been hitting some pretty big numbers with 16 million views since it began. He also added a sarcastic caption along with a clip of Windhorst’s original comments.

“Long ways from being done!! Sucks they have to listen to 2 guys who know nothing about basketball talk about basketball!! Sorry @SteveNash!”

The Mind of the Game YouTube channel has 766,000 subscribers currently and multiple episodes have surpassed one million views. It turns out that fans are plenty interested to hear about the game from two elite players to play it themselves, one of whom is still going.

James just wrapped up his 22nd NBA season and is already the league’s all-time leading scorer. He has four championship rings to his name as well as three MVP awards. This past season at age 40, he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Nash is also a former MVP with the Phoenix Suns who played 18 total seasons in the NBA. He is also a former coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2020-22, offering a unique perspective from both sides.

James previously did the Mind of the Game podcast with JJ Redick, who just wrapped up his first season as the Lakers coach. LA one was of the major storylines this season after trading for Luka Doncic, who also appeared on the podcast since it returned with Nash.

LeBron James and Brian Windhorst go way back, with the reporter covering him from his high school days in Akron. As James’ career took off, so did Windhorst’s who went from working at the Akron Beacon-Journal to the Cleveland Plains Dealer and eventually ESPN.

But as the years have gone on, James hasn’t been shy about criticizing Windhorst. The Lakers star has particularly refuted claims that the two were ever really close despite growing up in the same town and attending the same high school. It’s certainly an interesting dynamic, but for now James has got the last laugh.
