Lions fans chant 'F--k Ben Johnson' while blowing out Bears

Detroit Lions fans went after Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson during the Week 2 matchup on Sunday. A video surfaced showing the Lions fans chanting “F**k Ben Johnson,” as the team was beating the Bears.
Ultimately, the Lions took down the Bears 52-21. Ben Johnson was the Lions’ offensive coordinator for the previous three seasons before taking the job as the head coach for the Bears this past offseason. Johnson was named the NFL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024 after helping the Lions finish second in the NFL in total offense (409.5 yards per game) and first in scoring offense (33.2 points per game).
With the loss on Sunday, the Bears are 0-2 on the year, making their chances of reaching the playoffs very challenging. After the loss, Johnson was asked about Lions head coach Dan Campbell going for it on fourth down when his team was up 45-21 late in the game. The result of the play led to a touchdown for Detroit.
“What’s he supposed to do?” Johnson said. “It’s fourth-and-goal. What do you want him to do? Yeah, he could’ve kicked the field goal; they don’t kick field goals, they go for it there. So, he was doing what he’s supposed to do.”

Dan Campbell talks about facing Ben Johnson
While Johnson and the Bears look for answers, the Lions earned a big win after suffering a 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the season opener last week. Before Sunday’s game, Campbell talked about facing his former offensive coordinator.
“Ben’s my friend. He’s always going to be my friend. But nothing about that’s going to change,” Campbell said last week, via the Detroit News. “We’re going in, getting ready to play Chicago. We’re going to win this game. We have to.”
While the Bears’ offense made mistakes on Sunday, there were some things they can build on going forward. Quarterback Caleb Williams finished the day with 207 passing yards and two touchdowns with one interception and a passer rating of 91.9. The Bears offense recorded 339 yards of total offense (134 net yards on the ground) and converted seven of 13 third downs.
