National Title Odds: Ranking Top 25 betting favorites after Week 5 of college basketball
The latest national title odds in college basketball are in after Week 5 of the regular season. All odds are courtesy of BetMGM.
Since we’re getting closer to Christmas, we are a third of the way through the season so far. Hard to believe! Perhaps there aren’t clear contenders for the national title yet, but there’s a crop of squads that certainly look the part.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the latest national title odds. We’ll start with the favorite across the sport.
1. Michigan (+375)
The Wolverines are now 10-0 on the season and ranked No. 2 in the latest AP Poll. Dusty May and crew are dominant right now.
They actually have the shortest national title odds as of now. At this point, the Wolverines might run through the Big Ten and have quite the path to winning a title.
2. Arizona (+750)

The No. 1 team in the AP Poll but the No. 2 team in the national title odds per BetMGM. The Wildcats are also 10-0 on the season and rolling through the competition.
Despite being behind Michigan in this metric, Arizona has an argument for the best team in the country right now. They have recent ranked wins over Alabama and UConn on their resume.
3. UConn (+1,000)
Speaking of UConn, they are still one of the national title favorites per BetMGM. They’re just a little behind Michigan and Arizaon at this time.
As Dan Hurley’s crew searches for a third title in four years, they have ranked wins over Illinois, Florida and Kansas already. It seems like the Huskies are better suited for a run in 2025-26 rather than last season.
4. Duke (+1,100)
Duke’s last noteworthy win was on Dec. 6 over Michigan State. This team is highly talented with the Boozer twins and guys like Caleb Foster and Isaiah Evans.
Jon Scheyer wants to establish his own legacy and win a national title of his own to get out of the shadow of Mike Krzyzewski. The Blue Devils might be built for it, based on the odds.
5. Purdue (+1,100)

Other than a blowout loss to Iowa State, Purdue has been really good once again. But they’re trying to find the right formula to get over the hump and win a national title.
Matt Painter has a loaded roster again and a collection of giants, as usual. Oscar Cluff, Trey Kaufmen-Renn and Fletcher Loyer definitely have the sauce to make a special run.
6. Iowa State (+1,200)
Interestingly enough, the Cyclones are behind the Boilermakers in the odds per BetMGM, despite beating them head to head. Perhaps the national title odds like the Big Ten teams and their path a little more than the Big 12.

Make no mistake, this is a really good team. At 11-0, it might be a bit before the Cyclones actually lose a basketball game.
7. Gonzaga (+1,300)
The Bulldogs have a win over Alabama this season, but there was a blowout loss to Michigan. Those are the types of teams you’re going to have to beat in order to win a national title.
Playing out west, Gonzaga’s schedule doesn’t necessarily measure up to a Power Four schedule in some aspects. But Mark Few is one of the best coaches in America for a reason.
8. Houston (+1,400)

The Cougars are 10-1 and still in the top 10 amongst teams battling for a national title. Kelvin Sampson always has this team in contention, but like Purdue, they have to get over the hump.
It helps that Houston has guys like Milos Uzan, Emanuel Sharp and Kingston Flemings. A loaded roster can take you far.
9. Florida (+2,200)
We’ve mentioned Florida in the national title odds already, but only in reference. The Gators are at the bottom of the top 25 rankings, but Todd Golden and crew could very well repeat.
All you have to do is get hot at the right time and Florida has the capability. They’ll have key SEC matchups against Georgia and Tennessee next month.
10. Michigan State (+2,200)
Tom Izzo and crew just find a way to keep winning. Although Izzo hasn’t led the Spartans to a national title win in 25 years, they seem to always have a shot.
This current Michigan State crew is 9-1 and won’t have a ranked game until Jan. 2 against Nebraska, so they can stack some wins beforehand. This is one of the best teams in the Big Ten and country for a reason.
