New York Giants host Bo Nix, Spencer Rattler for visits before 2024 NFL Draft
The New York Giants hosted quarterback prospects Bo Nix and Spencer Rattler for visits before 2024 NFL Draft, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. New York, with the No. 6 pick in the first round of the draft, has done its research on potential first-round quarterbacks, but they’re also expanding their pool of prospects past the first round.
After inking quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million extension last March, the Giants probably don’t want to have to spend big again, but they need another option in case their 2019 first-rounder doesn’t live up to expectations.
Despite bringing the Giants bringing them both in for visits in the same week, Nix and Rattler have very different draft stocks. Nix is considered one of the next-best prospects after the five quarterbacks projected to go in the first round of the draft. Meanwhile, Rattler is projected as a late day 2 selection, potentially coming off the board in the third round.
As things stand for the Giants, they have pick No. 6 overall, as well as the 15th pick in the second round, the sixth pick in the third round, seventh pick in the fourth round, 31st pick in the fifth round and seventh pick in the sixth round. They currently don’t own any seventh-round picks, though that could change with potential trades throughout the draft.
Commanders host four quarterbacks in week before NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears are a near certainty to select former USC star Caleb Williams with the top pick of the NFL Draft. Then LSU’s Jayden Daniels should go No. 2 to the Commanders. However, the Commanders front office seems conflicted with less than a week to go before the draft.
The team in Washington is bringing in Daniels, Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy and Michael Penix this week for some final pre-draft visits, sparking speculation that they still aren’t sure about which quarterback to take with their No. 2-overall pick.
Whichever quarterbacks are left on the board after the Commanders pick will be up for grabs at pick No. 3, which is owned by the New England Patriots. The Patriots ended their Mac Jones experience after three seasons, sending him to the Jacksonville Jaguars for 2024.
Another team highly likely to take a quarterback in the first round is the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota acquired the No. 23 overall pick in the first round and the No. 232 pick, while sending No. 42 and No. 188 overall to Houston on top of another second-round pick in 2025 earlier this month. Now, they have two first-round picks, and some leverage to trade up from the 11th pick to get the quarterback they want.
