Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins suffered a broken leg in Sunday’s 23-20 Week 16 home defeat to the Buffalo Bills. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, he’s also being evaluated for a knee injury.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed after the game that Judkins dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula. Judkins’ rookie campaign, one in which he showed plenty of promise, is over.

The injury occurred with just under two minutes before the end of the first half. The Browns were looking to spark a two-minute drive. That started with a swing pass out to Judkins. The Bills were able to blow the play up as linebacker Matt Milano got there and made a tackle below Judkins’ waist. It ended up being a serious injury that the CBS broadcast refused to show again.

Judkins has quickly made his presence felt in the NFL. In 13 games going into Sunday, Judkins rushed for 805 yards and seven touchdowns. He added 21 receptions for 142 yards. Judkins had 22 rushing yards against the Bills before the injury, also leading Cleveland with 29 receiving yards at the half.

Judkins was a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He would go 36th overall, which was just two picks ahead of TreVeyon Henderson. That’s notable because in 2024, the two shared a backfield at Ohio State. That two-headed monster ended up being key to the Buckeyes’ national championship season. It was Judkins’ only season at Ohio State, having started his collegiate career at Ole Miss. There, he was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2022 and was twice a First-Team All-SEC selection.

Judkins faces a long recovery to be ready to go for the 2026 season. The Browns, now 3-12, could undergo significant changes this offseason.
