After a long journey this year, Randy Moss has completed his cancer treatment. He rang the bell Friday, signaling the completion.

Moss shared an emotional moment with the staff at Atrium Health, where he went through his treatment. The Pro Football Hall of Famer went public with his diagnosis in December 2024, stepping away from his duties at ESPN at the time.

Moss is preparing to make his return to Sunday NFL Countdown this year after previously getting back on the air in time for the Super Bowl in February. When he does, his cancer treatment will be in the rearview mirror.

“I want to thank everybody here at this hospital for welcoming me to be a part of their, of their extended family,” Moss told the staff in attendance. “I’ve told y’all this before, y’all do a great job of taking care of people. I know it’s an emotional moment, but I thank you all. God bless you.”

Moss is one of the all-time great receivers in NFL and college football history. During his time at Marshall, he helped the Thundering Herd to a national title and won the Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver in the country in 1997 as part of his Hall of Fame career.

Moss wore sunglasses during a show late last season as he worked through his health issues, and he was later off the air while he attended to his situation. Now, he’s getting ready to come back to the Countdown desk this season, and during an with TMZ over the summer. While he had jokes for Rex Ryan, Moss expressed his excitement to return.

“Man, I look forward to it. I missed my crew. Greeny, Alex, Teddy,” Moss said. “I really didn’t miss Rex Ryan much because he got on my nerves. So, Rex, if you’re hearing this, I am coming back, so scoot over.

“But really, Michael, in all honesty, we have a great group of guys that I work with that I tremendously missed for two months and ESPN accepted me back with open arms. Man, I just can’t wait for week one to get back with the crew and talk football!”

Randy Moss and the rest of the Sunday NFL Countdown crew will be back on the air Sunday as Week 1 of the NFL season continues. The show goes live at 10 a.m. ET on ESPN.
