Jayden Daniels is set to be one of the first players and quarterbacks off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, as far as his evaluation, it looks as though not much will change next week at the combine due to his plans for the event.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Sunday that Daniels intends to throw at his own pro day rather than at the combine. That goes for all activity as well as the reigning Heisman is only going to interview and speak with teams in Indianapolis this week.

Daniels joins Caleb Williams among the quarterbacks who will reportedly not throw at the combine. Those who have been reported to be taking part are players like J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix, and Spencer Rattler.

Daniels went off statistically in his second go-around at LSU. He posted career highs across the board in completion rate (72.2%), passing yards (3,812), passing touchdowns (40), and rushing yards (1,134). His numbers helped the Tigers to have the nation’s top offense while it also helped him to win The Heisman Trophy in his fifth and final collegiate season.

After all he did in his second year in Baton Rouge, Daniels has put himself firmly in the mix as the No. 2 quarterback in this draft. He sits behind only Williams in several mocks with most agreeing that it would be him or Drake Maye as the second at the position to come off the board.

Daniels is saving his arm for his pro day where he’ll then look to further impress scouts. That leaves him to only sway them with his words this week as he meets with teams who could potentially select him come April 25th.

Raiders have ‘eye on’ Jayden Daniels ahead of combine

There’s a strong feeling that the Las Vegas Raiders could trade up for Jayden Daniels according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

The former LSU quarterback is pretty familiar with Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce. He was an assistant at Arizona State while Daniels was there prior to his transfer to the Tigers for his senior and super-senior seasons.

With Las Vegas needing a quarterback, Fowler detailed how the Raiders might finally move all the way up to nab Daniels.

“Well, the QBs? They’re getting ready to throw in Indianapolis and the Raiders will be watching closely. There’s a feeling that Jayden Daniels, the LSU Heisman Trophy winner, has the eye of Raiders coach Antonio Pierce,” Fowler said on SportsCenter on Sunday. “They have a strong connection from their Arizona State days and Pierce was an assistant there.”

“We’ll see if they can move up but they’re picking 13th. That’d be a huge jump to try to get into the top three. You know, talking to people around the league, they make note that the Raiders tried to get up even as high as No. 1 last year trying to get CJ Stroud or Bryce Young. Couldn’t do it…Maybe this is the year they finally make the jump.”
