The Green Bay Packers will interview Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach and pass-game coordinator Christian Parker for the defensive coordinator position, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The Packers are looking for a new DC after Jeff Hafley was named the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Schultz said that Parker will interview with the Packers after he interviews with the Dallas Cowboys for their defensive coordinator position on Wednesday. Parker has been with the Eagles for the last two seasons and helped the team win the Super Bowl in 2024.

Christian Parker is familiar with the Packers, as he began his NFL coaching career with them in 2019. At the time, the 34-year-old was a defensive quality control coach and held that role for two seasons. In 2021, the Denver Broncos hired Parker to be their defensive backs coach. He held that position for three seasons before joining the Eagles.

Before joining the NFL, Parker spent several years as an assistant coach at different colleges. He was a defensive backs coach at Virginia State (2013-2014) and Norfolk State (205-2016) before joining Notre Dame (2017) as a defensive analyst. He then went to Texas A&M (2018) to hold the same position.

Christian Parker began seeing the game differently in high school

In an interview with Tyler Dunne of Go Long, Parker discussed how he was seeing football differently from his peers in high school. “It all made sense to me,” Parker says. “The connecting of the dots and the angles and the space, and there’s some basketball to it. I like basketball a lot, too. So it was kind comparing and contrasting the two. It always made sense to me — and it’s the development of people and being around people. That was another thing that I was attracted to. So, it all made sense.”

The Packers are looking to replace Hafley, who spent two seasons as defensive coordinator. In 2024, Hafley led a Green Bay defense that ranked fifth in total defense (314.5 yards per game) and in yards allowed per play (5.2), seventh in run defense (99.4 yards per game), sixth in scoring defense (19.9 points per game), and fourth in takeaways (31), while finishing tied for eighth in sacks (45). In 2025, the Packers finished in the top half of the league in total defense (311.8 yards per game), yards allowed per play (5.0), yards allowed per carry (4.2), passing defense (194.1 yards per game), and third-down defense (39.4 percent).
