Report: Packers propose restructured contract to Jaire Alexander

The Green Bay Packers may have a new contract for cornerback Jaire Alexander for the 2025 season. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, the Packers have proposed a restructured contract to Alexander, indicating they want him back with the team this fall.
Schneidman said Jaire Alexander and his agent, John Thornton of Roc Nation, have not agreed to a restructured contract yet. Alexander has two years remaining on his current deal and wants to stay with the Packers. Over the Cap indicated that Alexander has a 2025 cap number of $24.6 million, the third-highest on the team behind quarterback Jordan Love ($29.7 million) and defensive end Rashan Gary ($25.8 million).
Alexander is a talented cornerback but has had issues staying healthy. Over the last two seasons, the former Louisville Cardinals star has played in 16 of a potential 37 games due to four different injuries and being suspended for one game. Schneidman said that Alexander participated in the voluntary first week of the offseason program, but it was virtual because of the draft being held in Green Bay. He has not reported to Lambeau Field for in-person offseason work but plans to be at the mandatory minicamp on June 10.
Packers GM and HC share thoughts on Jaire Alexander
“We invested a lot in Jaire and want to make sure, if he’s not gonna be on our football team helping us win games, that we get something back for that investment,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said earlier this offseason. “So we’ll see where it goes, but again, working with (Thornton) weekly and trying to figure out what’s best for both Jaire and the Packers.”

Alexander was named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro Second Team that year.
JA (Jaire Alexander) is a great player,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said on the Up & Adams show last week, per Yahoo Sports. “Unfortunately, he’s been kinda snake bit the last couple of years. He’s missed a lot of time. So it’s hard to play up to your potential when you’re not on the grass.”
