Von Miller addresses when he could retire from the NFL

Throughout his career, Von Miller has done just about everything there is to do in an NFL career. The two-time Super Bowl champion and former All-Pro is now one of the most veteran players in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to retire just yet.
Miller recently appeared on Glory Daze. There, he admitted he was concerned his career had come to an end with his ACL injury, but that since he’s battled back, he wants to keep playing as long as he can.
“It’s crazy,” Von Miller said. “One of the realizations that I had in my last Ayahuasca retreat, was why rush it? Like, why rush the retirement thing? I’m still playing. Jason Peters. He just retired. He was 42 years old. I’m 36. If I can still play football, I’mma play football. At the same time, you don’t want to get kicked out of the league, but I don’t want to leave early.”
Late in the 2022 season, Miller was placed on injured reserve. There, it was discovered he had torn his ACL. He wouldn’t then be activated until October of 2023. It was a difficult season for him, though, and in 12 games that season, he failed to record a sack or a tackle for loss. Miller would finish with just three QB hits.
Luckily for Miller, he was able to bounce back. In 2024, he’d play in 13 games and make six sacks and seven tackles for a loss with eight QB hits. That’s still a ways off from his prime when Miller consistently produced double-digit sack seasons, but it’s still legitimate production in the NFL. It also earned him a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders.

“So, I’m just listening to God, man,” Miller said. “And I’m just listening to the signs. I can only take it one year at a time. At the same time, I still have to be Von. Whether that’s doing podcasts. I’m a dad too. So, I still have to be Von.”
Von Miller has won the Super Bowl twice and been named Super Bowl MVP. In 2011, he was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, and since then he’s gone to the Pro Bowl eight times and been named First-Team All-Pro performer three times. When it’s all said and done, there’s a good chance Miller has put together a Hall of Fame career.
For the time being, Miller is looking to make his presence felt with the Commanders. That can both be as a veteran leader and as a pass rusher. If all goes well, there’s no reason why he can’t play beyond the 2025 season.
