Caleb Herring Scouting Summary

Charles Power

6/21/22

Edge rusher that thrives in open space and flies to the football. Has an ideal frame with elite length at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds with a 35.25-inch arm. A fluid, natural athlete. Often lines up as an off-ball linebacker, despite projecting as a pass rusher long-term. Plays basketball and baseball during the offseason. The movement skills from those sports translates to the football field when working in the slot and in the flat. Terrific closing speed and ability to bend the corner. Active player that has a nose for the football. Lacks ideal mass in his lowers in order to generate power. Tallied 18 tackles for loss as a senior. Will need a couple years to physically develop in order to reach his ceiling, but has immense potential. One of the younger prospects for his position in the 2023 class, turning 18 years-old in the June after his senior year.

Caleb Herring is a tall, rangy and athletic EDGE prospect who looks reminds us a bit of Randy Gregory when he was at Arizona Western College in the 2013 cycle. Like Gregory, Herring has considerable room to fill out once he gets in a college strength program. Both showed off their athleticism as pass rushers and in making plays in pursuit.
