Comes from a background of multiple positions including running back and linebacker but has been a full-time safety as a senior. Also comes from a higher-level basketball background. In college, he could fill multiple role from a more traditional safety to growing into a weak-side linebacker to playing some sort of hybrid role depending on the defensive scheme. Size-wise, he's built like a bigger safety right now with enough available room to grow into a full-time linebacker. Very reliable tackler. Takes good angles to the ball, has the instincts and ability to diagnose plays that gets him into the right…
Top Attributes
- Instincts: Smart player who sees what is happening in front of him and quickly gets the jump on getting to the ball. - Tackling: Very sure, reliable tackler. Likes contact. Technical, controlled, and wraps up. Versatility: Has enough physical tools to be in the box or play as a more traditional safety. Can be a hybrid who plays over the slot and also contributes in the running game.
Areas to Develop
- Speed and Agility: Has decent testing numbers, but can still get more explosive and top-end fast, especially if he's looking to play defensive back at a high level. - Ball Skills: Not much of him playing the ball in the air on his tape. Would like to see him create more turnovers. -Man-to-Man Skills: Depending on the role a college will have him at, being able to man up on a slot, tight end or back would be a role that could suit him well, but he needs more reps in those types of situations.
Film Review Notes
Looks like he has some weight and size to him. A true safety with range and instincts. Good tackler. Hits with some pop. Takes good angles to the ball. Reads and sees things very well and gets in position to make plays. Can also walk down toward the box more and be effective closer to the line of scrimmage. Had one pick six on the tape and looks comfortable playing the ball in the air. Senior tape is all at safety. Other seasons of film, he is playing more running back and linebacker. Safety looks like his best college projection though.
