Instinctive off-ball linebacker whose feel for the game is ahead of his physical development at this stage. Listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Still relatively thin and will need to keep filling out his frame to hold up at the college level, though the build has room to add good weight with more time in the weight room. That added mass should also help his strength at the point of attack. Credited with 33 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks in nine games as a sophomore. Instincts are the strength of his game right now. Does a good job…
Top Attributes
- Instincts and diagnostic skills - Coverage awareness - Effort and pursuit - Reading and keying as a run defender
Areas to Develop
- Strength and pop at the point of attack - Adding mass to his frame - Top-end speed and burst
Film Review Notes
Off-ball linebacker who wins with instincts and processing at this stage. Reads his keys well and works downhill toward the football with efficiency, picking through traffic to find the ball carrier as a run defender. Flashes good awareness in coverage, showing a feel for when to leave his man and drive on the football. Wraps up as a tackler but lacks pop at the point of attack, often grabbing and dragging rather than taking runners down with play strength. Plays with very good effort and strains in pursuit. Still thin with initial burst, top-end speed, and drop quickness that all have room to develop as he fills out.
