Scouting Report
Do-it-all player on Friday nights who has the makings of a versatile back seven defender. Measured in at 6-foot-0.5, 204 pounds at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Has elite length with 33.5-inch arms to go with 8 ⅞-inch hands. Likely to fill out into a linebacker or hybrid box safety. Runs well in the combine setting. Saw action at quarterback and running back on offense as a sophomore before making the full-time switch to defense while continuing to see limited snaps as a running back as a junior. Primarily used as an edge and hang defender on defense. Closes quickly and uses his length to corral ball carriers. Has range as a pursuit defender. Has the potential to be a plus player in coverage given his athleticism and coordination. Will need to develop as a true linebacker and back seven defender. Tackling form and physicality at the point of attack will need to improve in addition to adding considerable mass to his frame. Younger for the cycle, turning 17 years-old in late June prior to his senior season. A long-term projection given his athleticism and physical traits.

Personal Life
Darrell Johnson considers himself a do-it-all type of player. Yes, he is a heralded defensive player, but he's also played quarterback and running back in his high school career. “I love it when the ball is in my hands because it's just me," Johnson said. "I can do whatever I want to. I can play anywhere on the field. I'm not scared to tackle, and I have speed.” As a junior in high school, he was an all-region pick with 103 tackles. He was also named the Georgia Region 1-AA DPOY as a 10th grader.
