Powers is a three-phase playmaker who can play receiver and safety and adds return value on special teams. He has a loose, athletic 6-foot-1 frame. As a sophomore, he had a breakout season, catching 26 passes for 349 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for another 171 yards and three more scores. Defensively, he played almost a hybrid safety-linebacker role and had 54 tackles and 13 sacks, mostly coming off the edge in blitz situations. As a junior, Powers has already topped his sophomore receiving numbers with 33 catches for 587 yards and nine touchdowns, along with four rushing touchdowns.…
Top Attributes
- Hands - Body Control - Ability to win 50-50 balls - Positional versatility
Areas to Develop
- Long speed - Creativity and twitch as a route runner
Film Review Notes
Good-sized two-way athlete who stands out at receiver and safety. Shows some initial quickness getting off the line and is strong in contested catch situations. Has an athletic frame with strong hands and high level body control. Shows physicality as a safety and is a big hitter. A reactionary athlete who can quickly diagnose and get downhill in a hurry. Shows range and football instincts and even though receiver is his primary position, upside might be even higher long term as a safety.
