Malachi St. John

Playing football is a tremendous blessing and joy. There is a narrow window in life in which I get to play this great sport and be a part of football team. I am committed to give my all to achieve the goal of playing collegiate football. I am a 4-sport athlete, playing at the varsity level beginning with my freshman year. Consistent focus and work describe my average day. I received all district honors as a freshman – second team Tight End and Utility Player. My sophomore year I was first team Tight End and first team Safety. My junior year I was 1st team all district Wide Receiver. In addition to football honors, I was selected All- District Newcomer for basketball and in baseball, first team All-District Corner Infielder. I advanced to the regional track meet competing in both the 110 M and 300 M hurdles. Beginning in the eighth grade I marched with the High School band reaching the state marching competition for the last 3 years. I am also active in FFA and have reached the state competition in multiple events. I am blessed with height which makes surveying the field easier. I have a quick mind that can assess situations, movements and potentialities rather quickly. Coaches have helped me understand the game so that I am improving every year at ‘seeing’ what needs to happen and what will happen. I have great reflexes and good hands. If a ball is catchable, I have it – as well as some that were not so catchable. I am the sixth of eight sons. There has never been a time when I did not have an older brother playing high school football. This has been my dream always. In a large family, everyone has extra responsibility and we are all expected to take care of our business, get ourselves out of bed and be on time for every morning workout and practice. Everyone in my family is also expected to maintain an A average. Going to college is the expectation. The question is where will we go to college. Currently I am first in my class and endeavor to maintain that placement, continuing to build a foundation of academics and a solid work ethic. I want to attend a college with respected academics and a healthy athletic program. I am open to all options in my quest to identify the right fit for me and a football program. I believe I have the measurables and the intangibles that will make me contributor!
