4-star 2027 QB Ben Musser decommits from Virginia Tech
Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian four-star quarterback Ben Musser tells Rivals he has decommitted from Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder had been pledged to the Hokies since August 1. But after the firing of VT head coach Brent Pry, Musser has decided to reopen his recruitment.
He is the nation’s No. 279 overall prospect and No. 23 quarterback in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as the No. 34 junior prospect in Georgia.
Musser held more than 15 offers, including Cincinnati and Purdue, who made up his top three along with the Hokies. But after VT’s offer in June and a few visits to campus, he was sold.
“I’ve visited twice, with the last one more thorough visit,” Musser told Rivals’ Chad Simmons at the time of his commitment. “I knew Virginia Tech was the school about two weeks ago after sitting down with my family and talking more about it.

After the changes in Blacksburg though, he’ll be looking at his options again. He is the third player to decommit from Virginia Tech since the announcement of Fry’s firing, joining 2026 four-star offensive tackle Thomas Wilder and defensive lineman Kamdon Gillespie.
Musser is one of the Peach State’s premier passers
Prince Avenue Christian is off to a 3-1 start this year behind the strong play of Musser, who is completing 64% of passes (45/70) for 753 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also carried 20 times for 165 yards (8.3 YPC) and two more touchdowns.
As a sophomore last fall, Musser connected on 60% of his attempts while throwing for 1,472 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also showed off his rushing ability by racking up more than 750 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns.
