Morton (Miss.) four-star cornerback Dolph McDonald has decommitted from Colorado, he announced Sunday afternoon.

McDonald had been committed to the Buffaloes since December 6, but will now reopen his process while still considering Deion Sanders and Co.

“I want to thank Coach Marion for offering me the opportunity to play football at the University of Colorado. It’s still early in my recruitment, and I want to allow myself time to assess every opportunity before I make a decision about where I want to play in the future,” he posted on Twitter. “That being said, I am decommitting but will keep Colorado in consideration.”

McDonald committed on the same as his older brother, Xavier McDonald, who flipped his pledge from Sacramento State on December 6. Their decisions came after CU hired Sac State head coach Brennan Marion to be the team’s offensive coordinator.

“Being able to play with my brother on the next level has always been our goal,” McDonald told Rivals’ Adam Gorney earlier this week. “Colorado adding Coach Marion helped with the decision.”

Prior to his commitment, Dolph McDonald held offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida State, Tennessee, Michigan and a handful of other programs.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the No. 323 overall prospect and No. 33 cornerback in the 2027 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Rivals, however, is a big higher on him than both 247Sports and ESPN. In the most recent Rivals300 rankings, he was tabbed as the country’s No. 236 overall recruit and No. 24 cornerback. The Buffaloes are now without a commitment in the rising senior class, and only signed 12 players during the Early Signing Period in December.

However, they’ve since added five new players, including Xavier McDonald, defensive lineman Joseph Peko, quarterback Kaneal Sweetwyne, and running backs Cam Newton and Cody Jordan.
