4-star CB Jaziel Hart commits to North Carolina
Just two short weeks after decommitting from Penn State, Rivals four-star cornerback Jaziel Hart has found a new home.
The Roanoke (Va.) North Cross School committed to North Carolina on Monday, announcing his decision via social media with Rivals. Hart received an offer from UNC shortly after his decommitment on October 14. He quickly set up an official visit for next month and now jumps from one of the top unranked prospects in the country to a Carolina commit.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder was strong in his pledge to Penn State, but that was upended by the Nittany Lions’ decision to fire head coach James Franklin
“It influences my recruitment kind of heavily especially when coach Franklin played a huge role in my recruitment,” Hart said when the decision was announced. “I didn’t think a year ago that he’d be getting fired especially being ranked No. 2 preseason and going to the playoffs (in 2024).”
He becomes the 38th high school commitment for Bill Belichick and Co., who loaded up during the offseason in the transfer portal and are now doing so on the prep level.

Hart is the No. 558 overall prospect and No. 52 cornerback in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as the No. 16 player in Virginia.
Rivals, however, is much higher on him than the other two outlets. In the recently updated Rivals rankings, he was tabbed as a four-star prospect and the No. 34 cornerback in the country.
With Hart in the fold, the Tar Heels now hold the No. 16 class nationally and No. 4 group in the ACC.
