Uncommitted 4-star LB visiting Clemson this weekend

Baton Rouge (La.) Central four-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett is one of just five uncommitted blue-chippers left in the 2026 cycle. The one-time Auburn commit is working towards making another decision.
Earlier this month via X, Garrett said that a new commitment date was “dropping soon.” It remains to be seen when he’ll come back off the board, but he’s taking at least one game visit beforehand. On Tuesday evening, Garrett announced that he’ll be in Clemson this weekend for the Tigers’ big season-opener against LSU on Saturday night before deleting the tweet.
But TigerIllustrated.com confirmed with Garrett that he does indeed plan to visit.
Dabo Swinney’s program is not one that’s been mentioned previously in Garrett’s recruitment, but they’ll get a shot to make an impression in a few days. LSU is now the local program for the 6-foot-0.5, 195-pounder, but he previously made the move to The Boot from Gulf Shores, Ala.
Since reopening things, LSU and Ole Miss are two programs that’ve been mentioned with Garrett. He tabbed the Rebels as No. 1 on his list when speaking with Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman this summer, while the likes of Texas A&M, Tennessee and Vanderbilt have also been in play. Could Clemson climb that list?
Garrett decommitted from Auburn on June 12, nearly 11 months after he originally chose Hugh Freeze and Co. LSU was the other top contender in his process at the time last summer. Miami, Colorado and Oregon were other programs that kept contact throughout the spring and summer.

For his final season of high school football, Garrett was initially set to make the move from Gulf Shores to Auburn High, right next door to the college program he was committed to at the time. Instead, he made his way to Louisiana and is now suiting up for Central in Baton Rouge.
He’s coming off a junior campaign that saw 91 total tackles, per MaxPreps. His last two seasons have seen 178 tackles, 36 of which were for loss, 11 sacks, 19 hurries and two interceptions.
Garrett is the No. 253 overall prospect and No. 15 LB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in Louisiana and currently the third highest-ranked uncommitted prospect in the entire class.
Clemson’s 2026 recruiting class is currently without a listed linebacker. The Tigers have a 21-man class that checks in at No. 14 nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
