Georgia offered Jae Lamar last fall, and since that time, he has been a top priority for Kirby Smart and the staff in Athens. They put a lot of time and effort into Lamar’s recruitment and it has paid off. The four-star running back in Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County has committed to the Bulldogs.

“It just feels like home at Georgia,” Lamar told On3. “It was a tough decision because so many top schools are pulling at me, and they have great coaches too, but the people at Georgia make it feel like home for me.”

The coaches played a big role in making Athens feel like home for Lamar and running backs coach Josh Crawford led the way.

“He has been up front and real from day one. Coach Crawford was one of the very first coaches I talked to and he was always around when he could come down. He is a coach who has always kept his word with me and I trust him 100%.

“Coach Crawford believed in me, I believe in him and I am going to put my life in his hands as my coach. That is how much I trust in him.”

The No. 122 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking chose Georgia over Clemson, Florida State, Miami and some other schools. The Hurricanes pushed hard at the end, but Lamar feels good about his decision.

“Georgia is where I feel I can be my best at,” Lamar said. “There are a lot of good people in that building. The people, my belief in how they will develop me, the coaching staff and the players made Georgia right for me. Everyone in that facility brings joy to my spirit. It is like I am home.”
