4-star running back TreVonte' Citizen decommits from LSU

Lake Charles (La.) Lake Charles College Prep four-star running back TreVonte’ Citizen decommitted from LSU, announcing the news Sunday on Twitter.

“I would like to thank everyone who was involved in my commitment to LSU,” Citizen tweeted. “Thank you to the entire LSU coaching staff for providing me with an opportunity. With that being said, I will be decommitting from LSU. My recruitment is now 100% open.”

TreVonte’ Citizen is the No. 60 overall prospect according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

His decommitment comes one day after taking an unofficial visit to Auburn for the Iron Bowl.

TreVonte’ Citizen is a big loss for LSU

Citizen was the third-highest commit in the Tigers recruiting class before decommitting after Monroe (La.) Neville five-star offensive lineman Will Campbell and Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More  four-star quarterback Walker Howard. LSU was the No. 12 class in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking before Citizen’s decommitment and dropped two slots to No. 14 following the news.

In November, TreVonte’ Ciitzen had tweeted “Solid” with a tiger emoji that seemed to indicate that he was going to stay solid to his commitment to the Tigers. He was not the only one to tweet that out, as Campbell, Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic four-star offensive lineman Emery Jones and Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy three-star defensive lineman Fitzgerald West did as well.

He is the second player to decommit from LSU since it was announced Ed Oregron would not be returning. New Orleans Edna Karr four-star wide receiver Aaron Anderson was the first. Anderson flipped to Alabama.
