4-star safety Jordan Deck down to four schools

Frisco (Texas) Lone Star four-star safety Jordan Deck has knocked out two official visits already and is now down to four schools, he tells On3.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is now focused on Penn State, Baylor, Colorado and Michigan. The Buffaloes and Nittany Lions already hosted him earlier this month, and the Wolverines (May 30) and Bears (June 20) will have him on campus before he makes a commitment decision.
That choice is likely to come at the end of June, he told On3’s Michigan affiliate, TheWolverine.com. Coming out of his visits to Colorado and Penn State, he said that the Wolverines, Nittany Lions and Bears sit at the top of his recruitment.
“Michigan is very high in my recruitment right now,” Deck told TheWolverine’s EJ Holland. “I’m excited to take my official visit there. Michigan is definitely Top 3 for me. I would say Baylor and Penn State are the other schools in there right now.”
Each contender is battling for Deck’s commitment
His most recent visit to Penn State was an eye-opener, he added to On3’s Chad Simmons. And it helped them move up his list in a major way.
“I am not just another number for Penn State and that means a lot,” Deck said. “After this visit, they are definitely up there for me. Before the visit, I was considering them, but this visit upped them on my list. I am a seeing-it-to-believe-it person and I got a great view of Penn State this weekend and I have a really good understanding of the program now.”

He spent a lot of time with the staff, but got to see head coach James Franklin up close. The program he has built in Happy Valley is one Deck can see himself playing in.
“Coach Franklin really stood out to me,” he said. “Talking to him and meeting with him was great. He gave a great presentation, it really blew me away. Coach Franklin talked about life after football, the degree, the development, how they never give up on their players and it was great. He how he cares about the players and values the players really stood out to me. Coach Franklin really takes care of the program.”
As for the Buffaloes, they also made a strong case for themselves during his time in Boulder.
“I had a great experience,” Deck told On3’s Steve Wiltfong after his trip there. “Got to see what Colorado was all about. Got to see the mountains up close. I was educated on how Colorado is for the players. They give their players a lot of opportunities and then some. After visiting Colorado I’m very fond of them. And seriously considering them. But what really caught my eye was how Colorado is for the players.”
Over the course of the next month, the Wolverines and Bears will each get their chance to make an impression before the No. 297 prospect nationally makes his final decision.
