4-star TE JC Anderson picks Ole Miss: 'It's a great environment there'
Four-star tight end JC Anderson is headed down south.
The Mt. Zion (Ill.) High playmaker picked Ole Miss over Auburn and Illinois. Anderson did take official visits to all three. Anderson really connected with tight ends coach Joe Cox.
“I really just enjoyed the coaching staff there. “Obviously, it’s a great environment there. Coach (Joe) Cox really did the majority of it for me. He’s a great dude and I could really see myself thriving under him the most out of the other coaches recruiting me.”
The coaching staff really sees Anderson as a do-it-all type tight end. They’ve told him that they don’t have a tight end that can block and catch passes equally as well so he’ll be a welcome addition. The ability to stay on the field in all situations is something he’s looking forward to.
Anderson also knows that he’ll be in good hands with the offensive staff in Oxford.
“You could just tell that he’s an insanely smart dude and that he just knows a ton of ball. And literally just sitting down with him and Coach Weiss and Coach Cox and going through the offense kind of just blew me away. I feel like being in that environment with that much football knowledge is the best option for me.”

Where Anderson lives in Illinois is very different than Oxford, Mississippi. But that actually excited him about his upcoming college career.
“Oxford is just amazing. I’m sure you’ve heard pretty good things about it,” Anderson said.
“The Grove is awesome. It’s just a great vibe there. In SEC country everyone is just so friendly. And it’s kind of where I’ve always thought I belonged. I’ve always been a Midwest kid obviously but I feel like I’ve got to go somewhere and spread my wings a little bit. Oxford really has it all for me.”
The Illinois native is the first tight end to join the Rebels’ class this cycle. Now that Anderson is Oxford bound he can’t wait to be part of the program.
“I’m honestly looking forward to just being coached by Lane Kiffin and Cox,” Anderson said.
“Just developing is the thing. I know that they’re going to get me right for the NFL.”
