5-star defensive lineman David Hicks sets commitment date

Five-star Katy (Texas) Paetow defensive lineman David Hicks is ready to make his college commitment.

On Friday, On3’s Hayes Fawcett announced that Hicks will commit this coming Wednesday, September 28. The decision will be made on ESPN at 4:30 p.m. Eastern.

Hicks is currently down to seven schools: Alabama, Miami, Michigan State, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) favors the Sooners to secure his commitment, giving them a 77.5 percent chance of doing so. Texas A&M (17.2%) trails behind with no other program polling above 1.0 percent. Oklahoma currently has a trio of expert predictions in its favor from On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons and national analysts Gerry Hamilton and Sam Spiegelman.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Hicks is the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the country’s No. 1 defensive lineman and the top player in the state of Texas.
