5-star safety Jonah Williams sets commitment date

Galveston (Texas) Ball five-star safety Jonah Williams will announce his commitment on August 24, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday.

Williams will choose between USC, Oregon, Texas, LSU and Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-3, 206-pounder is the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect and top safety in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also one of the nation’s top baseball recruits and is looking to play both sports in college.

Last month, he took official visits to USC, LSU, Texas A&M and Oregon. Williams has also now scheduled a Texas unofficial visit for this week — roughly a month after former Aggies baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle packed his bags for Austin following the College World Series.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently favors the Ducks after picks from InsideTexas.com’s Justin Wells and ScoopDuck.com’s Justin Hopkins and Max Torres earlier this month.

However, the race looks to still be very much ongoing. LSU insider Billy Embody logged a prediction in the Tigers’ favor on Wednesday night as well.
