Baylor lands commitment from four-star WR Jordan Clay

Baylor is stockpiling blue-chippers of late — and that trend continued on Friday with the addition of another.
Four-star WR Jordan Clay out of San Antonio (Texas) Madison committed to the Bears, who held off a late push from Oklahoma to keep the Rivals300 prospect in-state.
Baylor has been checking off all of Clay’s boxes from start to finish in his recruitment.
“I’m not big on numbers or logos of the school. My mom and I have three things — culture, coaches, and the offensive fit for me. Baylor fits all of that,” Clay told Rivals. “They have a great culture, great coaches, and I’m able to get along with all of them. The consistent line of communication with me is great.”
“When it comes to head coaches doing their jobs, Coach (Dave) Aranda is definitely one of the ones who’s up there,” he continued. “The communication they kept … they always made me feel like their No. 1 option.”
Credit that to Bears WR coach Dallas Baker, who Clay estimated has been in touch daily over the past year of his recruitment. Baker issued the four-star WR an offer during camp last summer and has maintained a steady presence in this recruitment ever since.
“It starts with Coach Baker. From the get-go, he never showed me a different side of him,” Clay detailed. “Coach Baker and I have had long talks — about what he’s gone through, how he got through it — to where he is today.”
“The constant line of communication — it’s crazy. Coach Baker has texted me every day for a year straight — I don’t think you’ll hear another recruit say that,” he continued. “Having a coach like that — to be able to reach me on different levels — who can coach my size because he played in the league … Having a coach that can teach me the ins and outs of being a big WR — that’s nice to have in my back pocket.”

The Bears started to trend up in Clay’s recruitment this spring and elevated again after his June 13-15 official visit to Waco.
Baylor held off a late surge from Oklahoma for Clay, the No. 13-rated WR in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“They never made me feel like I was forgotten about, like I was another recruit … they treated me like I was part of the team,” he said of the Baylor coaching staff. “They could be recruiting dudes all over the country, but they took the time to keep the constant line of communication with me. They wanted me and valued me in their organization — and a big part for me was knowing it was bigger than football.
“Being able to live in a place like Waco, where no matter what football will always be the main thing,” Clay added. “The people in Waco are incredible. On my official visit, being around those people, the Baylor fans in my posts … it shows me how much the Baylor community values their recruits and the players coming to Baylor.”
Clay is the No. 94 overall player in the country and the No. 14-rated recruit from the Lone Star State in the 2026 cycle.
