Coveted OT Daniel McMorris no longer taking official visit to Oklahoma this weekend

Norman North (Okla.) three-star offensive tackle Daniel McMorris has been trending toward Oklahoma in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine since he decommitted from Minnesota last month.
McMorris was set to take an official visit to OU this weekend as the Sooners host Ole Miss in a huge SEC clash. That visit is no longer happening, McMorris announced on Thursday via X.
Additionally, the 6-foot-5, 265-pounder tells Rivals’ Adam Gorney that he will announce his decision on Halloween. He had been eyeing a commitment that weekend and has now locked in those plans.
McMorris has logged official visits to both Texas Tech and Cal this fall. The Red Raiders have been considered Oklahoma’s biggest threat to land the coveted tackle. Rivals’ insider Sam Spiegelman echoed that when speaking with Josh Newberg on Rivals’ “Inside Scoop” recruiting show last week.
“I have a Rivals prediction pick for the Sooners to keep McMorris in the state. However, if there’s a team that’s able to knock that pledge away, I’m leaning on Texas Tech,” Spiegelman said. “They have been holding up on the offensive line throughout this 2026 and 2027 class. They’ve taken a very strong liking to McMorris and since he decommitted from Minnesota, no team has been recruiting him harder, with the exception of potentially the Sooners, who have definitely dialed up the efforts in the last couple weeks since offering.”
The Golden Bears are not be discounted, either. Justin Wilcox and the staff in Berkeley made a major impression on McMorris earlier this month and would love to add him to a class that currently ranks No. 46 in Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

“I really think they’re turning that program around to what it used to be,” McMorris told Spiegelman after the visit. “For sure I could see myself there. I really love the opportunity that I have with them. It’s definitely starting to heat up with them.”
McMorris is now the No. 451 overall prospect and No. 36 OT in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Oklahoma.
He’s the second top uncommitted offensive tackle prospect in the nation behind four-star Thomas Wilder. McMorris decommitted from Minnesota on Sept. 1.
“I ultimately decommitted because I think there are better opportunities ahead of me,” McMorris told Rivals’ Chad Simmons. “I’ve been thinking about it for a month or so, and I had to make sure it was the right decision. I think now is the right time.”
