Elite safety Bralan Womack flips commitment from Auburn to Mississippi State
Brandon (Miss.) four-star safety Bralan Womack is staying home after all.
Womack flipped his commitment from Auburn to Mississippi State on Monday, netting a huge recruiting win for Jeff Lebby and Co. after a disappointing 2025 season. He had been pledged to the Tigers since August, but started to look at other programs once Hugh Freeze was fired last month.
The in-state Bulldogs emerged as a potential landing spot, hosting him for an official visit the weekend of November 7. He returned back to The Plains for Saturday’s Iron Bowl matchup with Alabama, but with so much uncertainty around new coach Alex Golesh’s defensive staff, he is joining up with Mississippi State instead.
The 6-foot, 200-pounder is the No. 35 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 4 safety and the No. 2 recruit in the state.
Should he sign on Wednesday — the first day of the Early Signing Period — he’ll be the highest-rated Bulldogs signee since five-star offensive tackle Charles Cross in 2019.

Across his four seasons at the varsity level, Womack has totaled 116 tackles and 16 interceptions, including eight picks last season as a junior.
Scouting Bralan Womack
“A three-dimensional safety prospect that excels in run support, man coverage and zone coverage that possesses quality movement skills and physicality. Verified 6-foot, 190 pounds with average length. Strong testing in the spring camp setting, especially in the explosive in fluidity metrics. Has personal bests in the 100m at 11.03 and the 200m at 22.78. Instinctive playmaker that triggers so well to the football, appears to be one step ahead of every player on the field. Rangy defender that covers every balde of grass from sideline to sideline. Physical and willing tackler around the line of scrimmage. One of the most productive defensive backs in the country as a junior intercepting eight passes on defense and securing 54 catches for over 1,000 yards as a receiver on the offensive side of the ball. Versatility makes his defined role at the next level a potential question mark. Fits a lot of different positions at the next level but believe his best fit is as a nickel or strong safety due to his fluidity and physicality.” — Cody Bellaire, Rivals National Scout
