Florida State flips legacy 4-star CB Jay Timmons from Indiana

Pittsburgh Pine-Richland four-star cornerback Lawrence “Jay” Timmons has flipped his commitment from Indiana to Florida State, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Pledged to the Hoosiers since April 28, Timmons is now set to head to Tallahassee at the next level. He is the son of former FSU linebacker and longtime Pittsburgh Steelers standout Lawrence Timmons.

Jay is the No. 342 overall prospect and No. 33 CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 13 player in Pennsylvania.

“I wanted FSU because it’s my dream school, the school I’ve always been a fan of and it’s where I was born …,” Timmons told Warchant after picking up an offer from the legacy program. “Having an offer from Florida State is literally a dream come true.”

The Noles have pulled off another June flip, adding to a rising recruiting class that now checks in inside the top 15 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Timmons took an OV to Florida State over the weekend and is now set to follow in his father’s footsteps at the next level.

Seminoles continue to stack commitments

Not many programs are as hot as Florida State on the recruiting trail this month. Timmons is the 11th June pledge for the Noles and brings their class to 19 pledges overall. Earlier on Monday, Havana (Fla.) Niceville three-star IOL Jakobe Green committed, completing a flip from Mississippi State.

Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County four-star wide receiver Devin Carter is also an FSU legacy. He flipped back to the Seminoles from Auburn on Monday. He was then followed by Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star tight end Xavier Tiller, a former Texas A&M commit who spurned Auburn to choose Mike Norvell and Co.

Carter and Tiller are now the two highest-ranked prospects in the class. Carter ranks as the No. 124 recruit and No. 19 receiver this cycle, while Tiller checks in as the No. 222 recruit and No. 11 TE.

Directly after decommitting from Oklahoma, Mustang (Okla.) four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal pledged to FSU on Sunday, ending a long saga that saw the signal-caller slowly trend toward Tallahassee this year. He’s now the No. 16 QB in the cycle.

June has also brought commitments from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett, Lithonia (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Tico Crittendon and Irvine (Calif.) Crean Lutheran three-star defensive lineman James Carrington, among others.
