Sarasota (Fla.) Booker four-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon has committed to Florida State, he announced on Sunday.

He chose the Seminoles over Miami, Georgia and LSU.

Kennon is the No. 46 overall prospect and No. 5 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in Florida.

The 6-foot-1.5, 170-pounder kept a lowkey recruitment down the stretch, but the buzz began to build around head coach Mike Norvell and the Noles after Kennon logged his official visits last month. FSU has been a top contender for the defensive back for some time, and its hefty pursuit has now paid off.

“It’s a dream school. I always wanted to be at Florida State,” Kennon told Warchant ahead of his June OV to Tallahassee. “As y’all know, my sister goes to Florida State, my family grew up liking Florida State, so it’s just always been a dream school.”

Kennon becomes the highest-ranked member of FSU’s 2026 class to date. He also puts a bow on what’s an elite haul in the secondary for the ACC program. Norvell and Co. are pushing to ink another top-10 class in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings this winter.

FSU remains on recruiting heater this summer

As the Seminoles aim for a bounce-back season on the field this fall, they’ve built some serious momentum on the recruiting trail this summer. Kennon becomes FSU’s 14th commitment since the beginning of June.

Earlier this week, Decatur (Ga.) Cedar Grove four-star defensive lineman Earnest Rankins committed, giving the Noles a pledge from Rivals’ No. 5 DL this cycle. The next three highest-ranked recruits in the class behind Kennon all hail from Georgia, as Rankins is flanked by Douglas County four-star wide receiver Devin Carter and Langston Hughes four-star tight end Xavier Tiller.

Carter, an FSU legacy, flipped from Auburn. Tiller, a former A&M pledge, is the nation’s No. 11 TE. Both prospects committed on June 23. Carter is a top-20 wideout.

Vero Beach (Fla.) four-star athlete Efrem White has been in the class since December of 2023 and remains a top blue-chip pledge. Miami Barbara Goleman four-star safety Daryl Bell and Homestead (Fla.) Northwestern four-star safety Tedarius Hughes are also longtime commits in the class.

Mustang (Okla.) four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal flipped from Oklahoma last month, too. He’s now the nation’s No. 16 signal-caller. Miami Chaminade-Madonna Prep four-star WR Jasen Lopez, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star WR Brandon Bennett, Lithonia (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Tico Crittendon and Pittsburgh Pine-Richland four-star cornerback Lawrence Timmons are other June additions to the FSU class.
