Four-star ATH Juju Johnson postpones commitment date
Long Beach Poly (Calif.) junior defensive back Juju Johnson was set to announce his commitment next week but will now hold off making an early decision.
Johnson was set to commit on December 1 but said he wants to go through the recruiting process before pulling the trigger.
“I talked it over with my family and we decided it was best to take our time,” Johnson said. “I want to take some of my official visits and then I think I’ll be ready.”
Johnson announced a final five of Arizona State, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oregon. The Sooners are considered the team to beat and Johnson is currently on campus for a game day visit.
“This is my first time visiting for a game so I’m really excited,” Johnson said. “I like the staff at Oklahoma a lot and they’re bringing in a lot of Cali guys so I have a strong comfort level out here.”

Johnson took earlier game day visits to Nebraska when the Huskers hosted Michigan and to Arizona State when the Sun Devils hosted Texas Tech. He has also been to Oregon a number of times and the Ducks are probably the Sooners toughest competition right now.
Johnson is one of the most dynamic athletes in the West coast ’27 class. He’s a high major prospect as a corner and receiver and is currently rated the No. 42 player nationally in the Rivals Industry Ranking.
Johnson missed his entire junior season due to an injury he suffered during track season last spring. He had put up some big numbers before the injury including a 10.34-100m, 21.08-200m and ran on the schools 4X100m relay team that clocked a 40.32, which was the second fastest time in the state.
As mentioned, Johnson is a two-way standout but probably projects best at corner. He’s a twitchy athlete with both short area quickness and top end speed and always plays with a nice edge in his game.
