4-star center Gus Yalden locks in commitment date
Appleton (Wisc.) Asheville School center Gus Yalden will make his college commitment announcement next Tuesday, he told On3’s Joe Tipton today.
Yalden is the No. 93 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 11 center and the No. 11 prospect in the state of Florida.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pounder will choose between College of Charleston, Nebraska, Rutgers and his home state school, Wisconsin. The Badgers are the current favorite to land him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). And Yalden is fresh off an official visit to Madison earlier this month.

“I think every school is great and every coach good in their own right,” Yalden told On3 this spring. “They will all want to win. For me, it is going to be about who has produced the most NBA-level big guys and who has sent the most players overseas if the NBA isn’t an option for me. I will also look at what these programs are doing for their players after their careers. I want to have a good academic-based school that has the option if I leave early from school that I can come back and still get my degree.”
Gus Yalden Scouting Summary
“Gus Yalden has a strong frame and an excellent skill base. You immediately notice his footwork; he has an array of moves from 15-feet and in with upfakes and up-and-unders. He is a skilled ball-handler in the open floor and can knock down a three-pointer off the catch. The athleticism will be the ultimate question; where does he defend? However, he consistently gives great effort. Yalden is a matchup problem and has consistently given production at a high level.” — Jamie Shaw, On3 National Recruiting Analyst
