Highly coveted EDGE Trenton Henderson visiting Texas on Wednesday

One of the nation’s top edge rushers in the 2026 class, Trenton Henderson, is visiting Texas on Wednesday as the Longhorns look to make a move in his recruitment.

The Pensacola Catholic (Fla.) standout included the Longhorns in his list of top 10 schools back in February, but the Longhorns haven’t been penciled in for an official visit.

Instead, Henderson set trips to Auburn (May 16), LSU (May 30), Michigan (June 6), Florida (June 13) and USC (June 20). With a key upcoming visit to see the in-state Gators on tap for the weekend, Henderson is in Austin beforehand. The Longhorns are hoping to get him to switch his official visit with the Trojans to a return trip to the Forty Acres.

As a junior for Pensacola Catholic, Henderson racked up 50 tackles, including 18 TFLs, 20 hurries, 10 sacks and six pass breakups. The Crusaders won eight games in 2024 and were among the best at the 2A level in Florida.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder is the No. 59 overall prospect and No. 11 EDGE in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the No. 10 player in the state of Florida.

LSU ‘set the standard’ for Henderson on his visit

While the in-state schools like Florida and Florida State would love to keep Henderson home, it’s LSU who has been trending up in the race to land him. He gave his official visit earlier this month very high marks.

“LSU is at the top of my list,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They just set the standard for the rest of my official visits. The environment around the place and how they really prioritized me made a big impact on me. I like how wide open the room is at my position and how I have a chance to play early. This visit helped LSU a lot.”

Defensive line coach Kevin Peoples is Henderson’s lead recruiter and they were together a lot on this visit. Both did a great job.

“They made me feel great and I felt at home with them,” Henderson said. “Their message to me was that I am needed, not wanted, and that I am a priority for LSU.”
