Lane Kiffin visits Mississippi State offensive line commit Cam East
New Orleans St. Augustine three-star offensive tackle Cam East is a Mississippi State commit, but Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is hoping to change that.
Kiffin and Rebels’ offensive line coach Jake Thornton made the visit to the Big Easy to sit down with East and his family face-to-face Sunday.
East posted about the visit on Twitter, saying he had a great visit with the two coaches.
Kiffin is able to visit East and other prospects because of the opening of the the contact period Sunday, which allows coaches to do in-home recruiting.
This window is open through Jan. 29, 2022, except for a dead period from Dec. 13-Jan. 13.
Cam East is the No. 522 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The Bulldogs were the first team to offer East and he committed to the school in June. East didn’t receive an offer from Ole Miss until September. But East told On3’s Chad Simmons in October the Rebels came after him hard after offering him and it has piqued his interest.

“Since Ole Miss offered, we have been talking a lot,” East said. “It is every day that I talk with coach Jake Thornton and we have built a good relationship.”
East told Simmons he is planning on signing in February, so Kiffin does not have to rush to flip East.
East was his second known visit of the day after interior Clearwater (Fla.) Calvary Christian three-star offensive lineman and Ole Miss commit Preston Cushman.
Raleigh (Miss.) four-star linebacker Suntarine Perkins also announced his commitment to the Rebels on Sunday. He is the No. 73 player in the 2023 cycle and the top player in the class from Mississippi.
