Miami soars into Top 10 of On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings after landing No. 1 recruit

On Tuesday, Nixa (Mo.) Five-Star Plus+ offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle, announced that he’s committed to Miami.
Head coach Mario Cristobal, OL coach Alex Mirabal and the Hurricanes have landed a truly monumental pledge from the 6-foot-7.5, 305-pounder, beating out Georgia and Oregon, among others. The addition of Cantwell vaults Miami inside the top 10 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
The Canes’ class, which now features 10 commits, jumped four spots from No. 11 to No. 8 in the team rankings, leapfrogging Penn State, Clemson and Alabama.
“I think Coach Mirabal is a top five O-line coach in the country. Even that could be a little like subjective where in the top five it would be. He does a fantastic job. He does a great developing. They always seem to have the right guys on the offensive line,” Cantwell previously told On3.
With momentum on its side and the top-ranked prospect in the fold, Miami will look to keep things rolling into the summer and push to sign a top-five class later this year.
Miami adds Cantwell to rock-solid pledge list
Cantwell is of course the class jewel and will look to be a recruiting beacon for the Canes moving forward. He’s surrounded by myriad Sunshine State recruits that bolster the class thus far.
Six in-state commits are in the Miami class, including top-200 recruits in Miami Northwestern four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell and Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters. Campbell is the No. 7 LB in the cycle, while Waters, a former Florida commit, is the No. 17 CB nationally.

Last July, the Canes landed their quarterback this cycle in Lakeland (Fla.) Jones four-star Dereon Coleman. The Elite 11 finalist is now the No. 202 recruit overall and No. 14 QB nationally.
“The culture,” Coleman told On3 about why he chose Miami. “The fanbase. Who doesn’t want to play at Miami. Who doesn’t want to play in that city. You can live your life there after a long career. You can go back to Miami and be that dude.”
Jonesboro (Ga.) four-star CB Jontavious Wyman flipped to Miami from Georgia at the beginning of April. He’s also a top-20 corner in the cycle. Charlotte Myers Park four-star CB Camdin Portis, the son of Clinton Portis, has been committed since October. March brought commitments from West Boca Raton (Fla.) four-star running back Javian Mallory and Mineral City (Ohio) Tuscarawas Valley four-star offensive tackle Ben Congdon.
Congdon is one of three offensive linemen in the class, alongside Fort Myers (Fla.) three-star IOL Joel Ervin and Jacksonville Bolles three-star IOL JJ Sparks.
