Charlotte (NC) Independence safety Nick Reddish announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Friday.

The talented defensive back chose to play for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish over his other finalists in Indiana, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

”Notre Dame is special because it combines elite football with a top education,” Reddish said. “You get NFL development, strong academics, and lifelong support all in one place.

”Everything about it coming from the recruits and players made it feel like home.”

Tabbed as the No. 50 safety in the country, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Reddish adds to a Notre Dame class Rivals previously ranked No. 4 nationally.

Mike Mickens was the lead recruiter for Reddish, who’s June official visit put the Irish in pole position.

“The energy, the people, and the vision Coach Freeman has for the program really stood out. What excites me most is how humble and driven he is.

“He’s building something special at Notre Dame for sure.”

Reddish also had a terrific experience in South Bend during the spring.

“I had a great trip once again,” Reddish said. “The biggest highlight was when I touched down in South Bend they had a private dinner set up for me.”

Reddish likes what ND can do for its players.

“The education and how it can set you for life after football,” he said.

Reddish is now locked in, joining a class that also has fellow defensive backs in safety Joey O’Brien and cornerbacks Khary Adams and Chaston Smith.

As Freeman and the Irish put the finishing touches on this terrific 2026 class, the top target remaining is four-star defensive lineman Elijah Golden. With a decision date of July 26, Golden is strongly considering the Irish alongside Alabama, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech.
