FORT LAUDERDALE – Saturday was day two of the OT7 Playoffs – the championship of Overtime’s 7-on-7 league. Dozens of blue-chip prospects are in South Florida to compete in the tournament. The event features double-digit select 7-on-7 teams with play running from Friday to Sunday. Many top skill prospects from the 2026, 2027, and 2028 cycles are in attendance. Each team played two games apiece on Saturday.

OT7 Playoffs: Day 1 Top Performers

The setting allows for an up-close evaluation of quarterbacks, wide receivers, defensive backs, linebackers, tight ends, and running backs in 7-on-7 action. We’re able to get a sense for some of the physical tools, technical ability, and level of development of the participants. This order is based solely on the performances from Saturday.

On3 MVP: QB Derrick Baker (2027)

Derrick Baker made things look easy for the second straight day of the OT7 Playoffs. The rising junior is at the helm of Cam Newton’s C1N team and once again led their offense up and down the field at will. A muscular, compactly built athlete, Baker continued to impress with his decision-making and arm strength. Baker delivered several impressive passes throughout the day on Saturday. He hit four-star Florida State wide receiver commit Devin Carter on a strike over the middle of the field and later made another nice pass to Carter in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown. Later on, Baker delivered a strike to four-star Texas A&M commit Aaron Gregory for a touchdown. We came away impressed by how he zipped through his reads. Baker has a plus arm and generated considerable velocity on downfield passes. Given how he’s played so far this weekend, C1N should be primed to make noise on Sunday. Baker is an interesting prospect from an evaluation standpoint, given that he has yet to be a full-time varsity starter. He will get that opportunity this fall at Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton, a Peach State powerhouse.

2. RB Kemon Spell – Penn State (2027)

In a setting that rarely allows running backs to shine, Kemon Spell looked the part of the No. 1 back in the 2027 cycle. The Penn State pledge was borderline dominant on Saturday. Spell immediately flashed early on in his team’s first game, showing natural hands and a great burst with the ball in his hands. We saw him come down with two touchdown grabs on the day. Spell shook a defender and came down with a slant for a score, and later got behind the defense for a long touchdown. The showing in this pass-only setting is a big positive for Spell, who is a dominant tackle-breaker on Friday nights. It’s easy to see why, given his palpable burst and powerful build.

3. WR Myles McAfee (2027)

Myles McAfee came up with some huge plays in his first game of the day. The Severn (D.C.) Archbishop Spalding product scored three touchdowns in his first contest. McAfee got things going by getting behind the defense to take advantage of a busted coverage. He later took a short pass, juked a defender in the open field, and ran it in for a long touchdown. The highlight of McAfee’s first game came when he hauled in a Hail Mary pass to force overtime. The four-star kept things going in his team’s second game as he got behind the defense for a long score, showing excellent ball-tracking skills. He later came down with another score, giving him five on the day. McAfee is known as a consistent possession receiver, but showed more burst and downfield playmaking ability on Saturday.

4. QB Dia Bell – Texas

Dia Bell reminded everyone why he’s a five-star quarterback on Saturday. After getting off to a slow start while adjusting to a new team, the Texas pledge looked fully settled on day two. Bell made easy work of one of the most talented secondaries at the OT7 Playoffs in his first game, leading four touchdown drives. Bell dropped a dime over Brysen Wright‘s shoulder for a touchdown on their first drive. He came back with an outstanding throw down the seam, threading the football into a tight window. Bell later connected with four-star receiver Calvin Russell on a post for a touchdown before hitting Wright for a second score. Bell kept it going in his second game, a marquee matchup between two loaded teams from Miami. He led three touchdown drives against another talented secondary. Bell worked the ball downfield with ease and was aggressive in the right spots. He was throwing into a very strong headwind at one point and appeared totally unfazed, ripping throws to the boundary. Bell wasn’t perfect, as he threw two picks and his team ultimately fell in the game, but it was still a notable showing to go with the strong first game.

5. S Joey O’Brien – Notre Dame

It’s not an OT7 event if Joey O’Brien isn’t making plays. The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder showcased his elite coverage instincts on Saturday. O’Brien often lined up at slot corner on defense and showed his patented quick trigger, breaking on the ball to force a PBU on a slant. We later saw O’Brien blanket a wide receiver while covering a corner route. O’Brien showed his well-known two-way ability throughout the day, catching two touchdowns. The second score came on an impressive high-point grab in his second game of the day. The Irish pledge has put together a strong off-season with a dominant run on the 7-on-7 circuit, along with a strong showing at Rivals Five-Star.

6. WR Travis Johnson

Travis Johnson built on a solid first day at the OT7 Playoffs with one of the better showings we saw from a wide receiver on day two. The four-star showed an eye-catching burst after the catch, roasting the secondary with the ball in his hands on more than one occasion. In his first game, Johnson took a pass over the middle of the field and turned on the jets as he cut across the field, weaving through the defense for a near touchdown. Later, he nearly replicated the exact same play, but reached the end zone. The Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith product was more than just a yards after catch threat. He came down with a few strong contested catches, including two that went for touchdowns. His best catch of the day game on a leaping touchdown grab in his team’s second game of the day. Johnson hung in the air to high-point the football and had the coordination to get both feet in bounds, toe-tapping as he fell through the back of the end zone.

7. WR Brysen Wright (2028)

Brysen Wright looked like the most skilled wide receiver at OT7 for the second straight day. The 2028 prospect wasted no time making his presence felt, dusting a defensive back for a long touchdown on his team’s first drive of the game. Wright later found the end zone, shaking a defensive back at the top of his route to create easy separation. He’s shown the full skill set this weekend, flashing elite ball skills on Friday and the ability to earn big-time separation on Saturday.

8. WR Tristen Keys – LSU

A sputtering offense couldn’t hold down Tristen Keys, the top-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 cycle. Keys sparked his struggling South Florida Express offense late in the evening, catching two touchdown passes in a big win over rival Raw Miami. Keys’ highlight play came in the second half, as he leapt fully extended for a high throw over the middle and gathered himself upon landing before racing in the end zone for a clutch score. Keys scored a few other touchdowns throughout the day, despite working in a deep wide receiver rotation with a young quarterback. The Hattiesburg (Miss.) High product’s ball skills and catch radius were on display Saturday.

9. S Jayden Aparicio-Bailey (2027)

Jayden Aparicio-Bailey made a bunch of plays in coverage on Saturday. The 2027 prospect from Alabama made a great play early on in his first game, running stride-for-stride with a wide receiver on a vertical route, before turning to track the ball and pick off a Jonas Williams pass. We later saw Aparicio-Bailey stick with four-star Florida State commit Jasen Lopez on a crossing route, forcing the pass-breakup. The plays against blue-chip 2026 prospects certainly caught our eye.

10. ATH Salesi Moa

Salesi Moa was the go-to target for his Cold Hearts team on Saturday. The talented two-way player was a first-down machine, as quarterback Tayden Kaawa targeted him early and often. Moa came down with several grabs, showing smooth movement skills, reliable hands, and the ability to find space within the defense. The highlight of his day came on a touchdown catch in the corner of the end zone, where he showed impressive ball-tracking skills. Moa also saw significant snaps on defense, often lining up against the opposing team’s top wide receiver.

Additional notes

+ Devin Fitzgerald had another strong day at the OT7 Playoffs. The NFL legacy continued to show strong hands and instincts. Fitzgerald came down with multiple touchdown grabs, including a highlight play where he tracked the ball over his opposite shoulder.

+ Top 100 Oregon safety Jett Washington had one of the most consequential defensive plays of the day, picking off a Hail Mary attempt intended for Joey O’Brien. Washington timed his jump and came flying in to end the game.

+ Hawaii quarterback commit Maika Eugenio continues to be a force in the 7-on-7 setting, leading touchdown drives at a very high clip. Eugenio is short in stature, but has a great internal clock and timing with his receivers.

+ Five-star Georgia quarterback commit Jared Curtis showcased his elite arm talent, hitting several high-level throws over the middle of the field. Curtis was in a quarterback rotation, and his team could never really find a rhythm. With that said, he had the strongest arm in attendance and showed it with high-difficulty throws.

+ Oregon safety commit Xavier Lherisse had one of the day’s most impressive individual plays, particularly on defense. Lherisse had an awesome interception and return, jumping a pass from his safety post. Once the ball was in his hands, Lherisse rocketed toward the endzone, juking at least three defenders on his way. While the play was called back due to an illegal block, we still came away impressed by the anticipation, burst, and overall playmaking ability.

+ The 24k offense continued to roll with Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor, Oregon wide receiver commit Messiah Hampton, wide receiver Larry Miles, and Miami quarterback commit Dereon Coleman all making plays.

+ 2026 wide receiver Bailen George and Texas wide receiver commit Kohen Brown each made plays for their offense. George juked a defender in the open field and ran it in for a long touchdown. Brown showed nice burst with the ball in his hands.
