Rivals has released its’ initial 2028 women’s basketball recruiting rankings. The release includes the Top 25 players in the class. Let’s take a look at a few of the players featured in the initial rankings.

The nation’s elite

Five prospects received a 99 rating in the initial 2028 rankings. Rivals’ top player in the class is 6-0 guard Tatianna Griffin from Ontario (CA). Her dominance has been apparent, especially over the past year, and her scoring ability is top-notch.

6-foot-1 guard Jordyn Haywood from Saint Louis (MO) came in at No. 2 in the rankings. She already holds offers from programs including Indiana, Notre Dame, North Carolina and TCU

Rounding out the top five are 6-5 forward Sydney Douglas, 6-4 wing Ella Peper and 5-11 point guard Chloe Johnson. Each of these five have received offers and interest from the premier programs in the nation and will likely have their pick of a landing spot.

A few stock-risers

Janaya Cooper, Erin Thomas and Sutton Villa are three prospects whose recruitments are heating up. Cooper, a 5-10 forward from Fort Wayne (IN) rose her stock immensely this offseason and holds offers from schools including Illinois, Ohio State and Louisville

Thomas, a 6-1 guard from Cincinnati (OH), recently took an unofficial visit to Kentucky and programs including Clemson, TCU and North Carolina all offered her this summer.

Villa, a 6-6 post player from Provo (UT) who’s ranked in the Top 10, has been picking up countless offers from some of the nation’s best this offseason. They include Iowa, Ohio State, TCU and Oklahoma State.

The lone commit

While most of these players remain in the early stages of their recruitment, one player in Rivals’ Top 25 has already announced her college commitment. No. 15-ranked Jhaliana Guy is committed to the Stanford Cardinal and is the lone commit on the rankings thus far.
