San Diego OL Frank Fanua stays home, commits to Cal

San Diego (Calif.) Mount Miguel offensive lineman Frank Fanua has over a dozen offers and he has found the one for him. It is California. He took an official visit to Berkeley over the weekend and he is excited to be a Golden Bear.
“They were one of my first offers and they call me or send mail almost every day,” Fanua told On3. “When I was up there on the visit, it felt like home from the moment I got there.”
What led him to make his decision?
“The coaching staff and the amount of Polynesians that are on the coaching staff make me comfortable there. I think I can get a lot out of being coached by coach Browning and coach Paea too. Also, the education is second to none there.”

Fanua is excited about the opportunity to compete for playing time too.
“In my position room, they will be graduating a lot of guys in my room and I have a chance to play right away.”
Nobody knows the new California commit better than Mount Miguel head coach Verlain Betofe.
“Frank is extremely explosive and twitchy,” Betofe said. “He is a 6-foot-3, 255-pound lineman with the frame that can get to 295 pounds. He is going to be a special player for Cal Berkeley. His story is amazing. Cal just got a special player.”
