Top-35 recruit John Clark commits to Texas

John Clark, one of the top power forwards in the country, told On3 he has committed to Texas.
The 6-foot-9 four-star senior attends powerhouse Link Academy (MO) but is originally from Houston. He chose the Longhorns and head coach Rodney Terry over Kansas, Texas A&M, and Houston.
Clark is the No. 35 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 8 power forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Clark on his commitment to Texas
John Clark discussed his decision with On3.
“I chose Texas because it felt like home. The coaches, the players, the alumni, the campus and the culture is something I would want to be a part of. Also with me being from Texas and having the opportunity to have my family at my games is important to me.”

What led to his trust in the coaching staff at UT?
“I believed in the coaching staff because they have a proven track record of getting players to the next level especially in my position. The plan and layout they have for me also stood out to me, more than any other school. Also I fit their system and style of play in lots of ways. Their development in the weight room and on the court is also great.”
In his own words, what type of player is Texas getting in John Clark?
“I would say I am a skilled forward with a high motor that could score on all 3 levels, rebound well, and guard multiple positions.”
He has a message for Texas fans.
“Can’t wait to get on the floor and put on a show for y’all!!”
Scouting Report
“John Clark has a strong frame with nice length. Listed around 6-9, he can knock down a shot and rebound his area. All of this gives him a relatively high floor as he continues to progress in levels. He is a solid straight-line athlete. The hips are a little tight which slows his lateral movement a bit. Walls up well on the block and understands rotations, not a rim protector and has switchablity questions.Ike to see him develop some off the bounce. Become more of a threat from the elbows and wing areas. Can knock down a pick and pop shot and comfortable when his feet are set with solid balance points and a consistent release. He is a nice player who does some translatable things.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
