Versatile athlete Amare Nugent helps team win state championship, recruitment remains open
MIAMI, Fla. — Talented 2027 athlete Amare Nugent was a vital piece for American Heritage (Plantation) during the 2025 season. The Patriots capped their year with a 33-28 win over Jones (Orlando) to win back-to-back state championships.
I’m in shock, but at the same time, I’m not because we faced a lot of adversity this year,” Nugent said after the game. “I knew it was going to happen. We just have a great team bond.”
The four-star transfer from Somerset experienced a state title for the first time last Saturday and credits Heritage for helping to develop into a better athlete.
“They developed me well. The conditioning was great in the summer. We just came together during the season and played a team game.”

Nugent finished his junior season with Heritage with 27 total tackles (10 solo), a tackle for loss, a sack, and two interceptions.
Three schools stood out in Nugent’s recruitment in October, but the blue-chip DB did not provide an update on their status or whether other schools have entered the mix.
“I don’t have any updates on my recruitment because I was waiting until after the state championships, but I will definitely have updates during the spring. We’ll see. Whatever schools are interested in me, that’s where I will go.”
