No recruiting weekend is set to be more jam-packed than Tennessee’s this weekend as it hosts Georgia for a massive SEC opener. The Vols will have tons of blue-chippers on Rocky Top in the coming days.

On Tuesday, Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley four-star EDGE Andrew Rogers announced via X that he’s visiting for the showdown. The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder committed to Virginia Tech last month and was supposed to return to Blacksburg for his official visit this weekend, but has now canceled that trip to head to Tennessee.

Grimsley High School will be a familiar name to those keeping up with Tennessee recruiting. Rogers is the teammate of five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, who’s been committed to Josh Heupel and the Volunteers since last August.

Tennessee is off to a 2-0 start and has looked impressive in wins over Syracuse and East Tennessee State. If it can find a way to take down UGA, momentum will be near its maximum in Knoxville, both on the field and from a recruiting standpoint.

The same cannot be said for Virginia Tech. The Hokies are 0-2 at the hands of a pair of SEC foes in South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Tension is ratcheting up in Blacksburg under fourth-year head coach Brent Pry.

Rogers currently sits atop the Hokies’ 2026 class as one of just two four-stars in the mix for the ACC program. He reclassified up to the 2026 cycle earlier in the summer and chose VT on Aug. 22 over around two dozen other offers.

“It just felt right,” Rogers told Rivals’ Chad Simmons about his commitment. “I’ve been to Virginia Tech multiple times — and each time, it was the same energy, the same focus. It’s all about the team, and I really liked that.”

Tennessee after more flips this fall

The Vols have already pulled off some big flips this cycle. On Aug. 28, Hattiesburg (Tenn.) Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Tristen Keys, the top-ranked WR in the nation, flipped from LSU. On Sept. 1, Huntsville (Ala.) Jemison top-100 EDGE Hezekiah Harris moved off a longtime pledge to Auburn and flipped. Clarksville (Tenn.) Kirkwood four-star offensive tackle Kamari Blair flipped from South Carolina on Aug. 21.

“Tennessee has been there a long time,” Keys told Rivals about his decision to flip. “I’ve always loved the coaches. Every part of the coaching staff from the offense and defense. The environment, the people, the fans, you can see them going crazy. That’s the type of love I want. You can see they want me there.”

The Vols now have 24 commits and a class that ranks No. 8 nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The entire pledge list can be seen here.
